Criss Copp-Author Interview

Welcome author CRISS COPP

About the author
I am a university student... and I am in the last year of my Bachelor degree.
I live with a number of crazy people that I like to call my family, and I have two dogs and a cat.
I also have a mortgage and a previous life in the education field...
I LOVE reading and adore writing.
I have lots of stories I have written over the years... and I plan to revisit them one day and see if they too are publishable.
I'm hoping that my writing style will improve and readers will enjoy my stories, just as much as I like writing them.
I have travelled quite extensively and unfortunately or fortunately lived in many different places.
I have loved and laughed and lost...
But I continue to place one foot in front of the other in order to get where I intend to go.
=)

Here's what she has to say in an exclusive interview with Review Buzzz

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
At the age of 14

How long does it take you to write a book?
Hmmm.  I do a lot of research for anything I’m not too familiar with, so if you take that into consideration, as well as editing, I suppose around 6 weeks.  Typing up time for the initial manuscript would equate to maybe a week though.  It’s all the other stuff that takes time.
Now I’m studying again, everything gets delayed.  I’m hoping 3-4 months will be sufficient.

What do you think makes a great story?
Emotion.  Real and truthful emotion.  It doesn’t have to be negative or positive, but getting the reader to identify and empathise is paramount.

What inspired you to write the book(s)?
Life experience and an overactive imagination.

How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
I have published four books, but I have written many, many more.  My favourite thus far is a tossup between “A Pretty Pill” and “Fake”.  I suppose since they’re the same series, my favourite is in fact that series.  So I’d say the series “A Pretty Pill”.

What was your favorite part of the book(s)?
Writing Jade’s heartache and anguish was cathartic.
I really loved writing about Silas’ recovery and falling for Isobelle too.

What was the hardest part to write in the book(s)?
Sabrina’s departure in book #1 of the series was difficult, but the end of Fake (book #2) was pretty hard to write.
But the hardest part in a published book to write was the suicide in my book Always Summer.  I cried.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?
Resilient (A Pretty Pill, #3)
The external threats and devastating struggles resolve for Silas, Isi, Jade and Ben.  So how do they explore their futures as couples – reliant upon and trusting each other?

Do you have a favorite place you love to write?
My bedroom.

How hard is it to get published?
I’m an Indie author, so apart from the initial formatting, self-publishing (which is what I do) is fairly easy.

What do your family and friends think about your books?
Apart from my sister, my family don’t read my books, and only a couple of close friends have kind of read them (in parts).  A few trusted colleagues have also read them and edited them for me too.  My sister and colleagues loved the books and have put their hands up to edit and proofread future books.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Read.  I absolutely love reading.  I love to escape.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Oh wow... kind of.  I’d be really scared I’d make a fool of myself though.  But the top of the list would definitely be Tolkien.

Who designed the cover of your book?
“A Pretty Pill” is a photo I took of a beautiful young woman I know.
“Fake” is a photo of a guy I found through trawling the internet that allowed me to use his photo when I asked.
“Resilient” is a photo I bought from a professional stock photo studio.
“Always Summer” is a photo I took of a couple of floristry butterflies on a seventies wedding dress.
“Falling in Silence” is a photo I took of a corner of my dressing table.

If your book was made into a TV series or Movie, what actors would you like to see playing your characters?  Feel free to add pictures.
Oh dear.  I hope I would be able to personally check out anyone they thought might fit the role, so I could decide based on personality and sex appeal.  It’s hard to be objective of actors since I’ve never met any of them.
I’d definitely have to meet whomever they thought could do it first, and then decide.

Where can your readers stalk you?
Best place is Goodreads and Facebook.
